Dammit!
Been staring at this empty blogger window for days, with absolutely NOTHING to say. Nothing to bitch about, no ironies to note, no celebrities to tear apart. Nothing. (Well, let's face it, all the celebrities that make the news on a daily basis should be torn apart and eaten by rats. But that doesn't leave much to say about specific ones, right? So what's the point?)
When the thing that I'm most pissed off about in my life is the fact that for the second year in a row, I have a mammogram scheduled for the day after the Pogues show at the Orpheum...I really have no business bitching about anything at all.

It happens.
I'm not sure why the whole mammogram/Pogues thing cracks me up, but it does.
Celebrities are over rated. Shane is getting married by the way.
The Pogues still tour!
Oh my - I am really behind the times....I'd have thought they'd all have pegged it with liver cancer by now.
There's hope for us all...
I didn't know they still toured either - you lucky sod.
fmc, I can't believe that after all these years he's going to make an honest woman of her. I saw a picture of them and her mum the other day. She and the MIL were normal coloured; he was the colour of a corpse. Does he still part hearty over there in Dublin?
I've never had one, but I hear mammograms are sore, all that pummeling and rolling. I hope your's isn't too bad, hun. Best luck!
He sure does Sam! She's an absolute loon too, I met her a few years ago and she gave me quite the speech about my 'aura'.
Do you get mammograms every year? In Ireland we never get them ordinarily. I had a lump scare a couple of years ago and get a mammogram every 2 years now. Not great is it?
As for the Pogues: I went to school with Victoria. She was held up to us as a fabulous poet, being Austin Clarke's grandaughter (Irish poet on the Inter Cert and the Leaving Cert). She found out quite recently (and wrote about it in the Indo) that her mother had married Clarke jr when Victoria was a babe, so all of that "Austin Clarke's grandaughter" stuff that gave us the pip was wrong. I had a good laugh, not at Victoria, but at our principal who made an eejit of himself fawning over her. She had a very alternative upbringing. Quite tough in rural Ireland really, dragged around a bit. She's been with Shane for about twenty years, so it must be love??
Mairead- every year since I turned 40, so this is my second one (I'm 41 in less than two weeks. I still look hot, though)...I think once a year is excessive, given that tehre's no history of breast cancer in my family, but I like my doctor and pretty much go along with what she says. She has the medical degree, after all...
Won't somebody buy Shane some teeth as a wedding present? PLEASE?!
He had teeth (dentures) years ago but hated the feel of them, so he threw them away!
