I am a maelstrom.

Very tired today. Very tired indeed. Stayed up to watch the debate, you see. What's that you say? The debate only lasted till like 10:40, that's not particularly late?
But you see...it took me two and a half hours to CALM DOWN. I really wanted a meltdown, or at least a smackdown, but I got neither. I was VERY disappointed. Damn her batshit craziness, the Palin wingnut did okay. She lied a bit, avoided the questions at times, said some stupid shit about gays making a 'lifestyle choice,' which pissed me off NO end, but she handled herself better than I thought she would.
Also? She pronounces nuclear "nookyoolur" and overuses the word "also." That cost me some sleep.
Thank fuck for Gnarly Head Old Vine Zinfandel and my kind, empathetic, forgiving disposition. (HEY now...)
Playoffs? Playoffs? You wanna talk about PLAYOFFS?
Yes, I shall be sleep deprived from now until the end of October because MLB insists that in the post-season there is no such thing as baseball-at-a-reasonable-hour-of-the-frigging-day. As Boston drivers continue to watch baseball into the wee hours, and their driving gets worse and worse from lack of sleep and loss of concentration, I'm predicting an increase in traffic accidents from now until the Red Sox done with the winning - which will PROBABLY be when they've won the World Series. Hey, I'm not complaining about my team making it despite all these injuries and sturm and drang we've been through this year. But last year, during the ALCS, I spaced out following another car into our work parking lot, and didn't stop and wait for the gate to close then reopen for me. Had the short, sharp, shock of the gate came crashing down right onto the hood of my truck.
Upside: The tougher and more beat up the truck looks, the more people will fucking YIELD.

All righty then. Two hours till the boozing begins. Cocktails anyone?

Hiya Cat - as it happens they WERE very much rum-based. I had about a dozen Captain Morgan and gingers. It WAS ginger day, after all.

Thanks, I'll have a martini and an aviation, unless you don't have the marachino in which case make it two martinis.

Mr. M's been watching the Phillies play (as usual) and though I don't follow baseball, I was surprised to hear that they were winning.

All of us here in NE are sleep deprived between the Sox, debates and the fading light...
