Fucking scary.

People...for the past few weeks, I have been feeling a little run-down, tired...body tired, not just fatigue-tired. Haven't been able to get out of bed for my morning workouts, sleeping too much and feeling like I haven't slept enough. I've been putting the lack of energy down to the autumnal weather change. It's too dark to get up early (I skipped a lot of high school in the winter months because I can't get up in the dark, but can rise at the first birdie-peeping in the spring/summer because the spring and summer light is gorgeous and dewy-lovely.)

BUT: I took Ginseng today.

JESUS CHRIST IN AN AIR BALLOON.

I am fired up. Got up feeling like I'd once again had too much sleep and needed more, then took my morning mix - orange juice, cod liver oil gel-cap, vitamin E - and for the first time, added this crazy Ginseng I bought at some hippie vitamin market in Harvard Square, then did a few stretches and jumped on my elliptical machine for a good 45 minute sweat.

For the past 10 hours, I have been out of control. Laundry, cleaning, organizing, shopping, dusting, winter/summer clothing switching, air conditioner-removal and storage, put together some bags of good stuff for the AMVETS to take away....AND HAVING ABOUT 20 BEERS IN THE PROCESS, which, under normal circumstances would have stopped me at 2 chores and a snooze on the couch on such a cloudy, gloomy day. Plus, I've spouted off some social/political/artistic commentary of a higher intellectual level and syllable count than I normally feel like stretching the intellect for, on a good day.

People, if you are tired, feeling listless, want to get a few things done and feel spot-on-the-fucking-ball...Ginseng.

It's speed, and it's legal.

Dang.

Nah - it is speed. The stupid fucker must have given you his stash by mistake. Either that or you're suffering from an alergic reaction.

Wow, if it's that good, I just might have to get some too! Maybe then I could ease up on my coffee addiction... meh, who wants to do that?!

It's what you are going to feel like tomorrow that should concern you. I suggest some full spectrum compact fluorescent light bulbs on a timer set to come on at your usual rising time...that might help your seasonal affective disorder...I might try it myself.

Lindy, I know! I've given up coffee from time to time and it does feel good while it lasts. then the bastards at Dunkin Donuts introduce some new flavor and the smell, like a big, beckoning cartoon hand, drags me back in.

Anonymous, you sound very familiar, almost like...no, could it be? one of my own siblings? If my guess is right, and you draw my name this Christmas, you can buy me one of those lights. Sounds great, but it doesn't sound cheap!

So I guess you're turned into a hippy now. That's a horrible thing to happen to anybody. What's next, man, prayer beads and a kaftan? I shall call you Neil, Neil, from now on.

Sounds like a great way to start the week. And how is life in the new office?

The new office is fabulous, mrshife! Thanks for asking. Still unpacking and getting set up (hence no post today) but...sweeeeet.

Stephen, I will never become a hippie. What a dreadful thing to say. How DARE you insinuate such a thing. I've never been so insulted, etc., etc....

Yeah, I'm a hopeless coffee addict... my biggest weakness are the seasonal coffees: right now, I'm loving the pumpkin spice lattes, and soon will come peppermint... Aargh!

Strangely enough, I've recently been in the same hippie boat as you, Andraste -- after I professed my adoration for Vonnegut, Bane promptly declared me a hippie... hm.

Well...that IS Bane, though, innit? He's a frightening proposition all round. I mean....Anyone who worships Anne Coulter scares the piss out of me.

Yeah I used to use 'ginseng' to get my lazy arsed ex-husband up in the morning. I used to sprinkle some of it on his frosties...and there he was thinking I was being the dutiful wife.....

Yep, Andraste, the cult of Coulter-worship is quite frightening... although somehow not quite as scary as that whole scientology shite... although I suspect the two are fairly close in their creepiness factor...

wait a minute, pumpkin spice latte? If that's not hippie then I don't know what is, apart from marijuana and unemployment that is!

I actually just drink regular and sometimes French Vanilla, but if drinking flavored coffee makes anyone a hippie...I don't care what flavor...then we're working in a strangely tight space.

NOw, if they made a fucking patchouli smelling coffee, I would bomb Dunkin' Donuts myself. That stuff is worse than a corpse.

Good!

I fucking hate hippies almost as much as I hate pikeys (for non uk types....pikey = scabby, interbred trailer dwelling fucks who would think the 5 and dime is 'a bit pricey')
