I am 41. Fucking hell.

What a year. I won't bore you with any deep reflections on the year that's been.
I've gained some things, lost some things. The things I've gained I've worked for, and the things I've lost...didn't need 'em anyway and maybe I'm better off without. Howzzat for deep reflection? Eh, fuck it. Navel gazing. Who needs it?
Onward to 42!!!!!

Why thank you, Ms. Cat! I'm sure the loving spouse has some ideas for a nice dinner. And boozing.

Ah, happy birthday, hun! May your drinks be cold and your cake be chocolate.

How was the Pogues gig? Has it happened yet?

Lá breithe faoi mhaise dhuit! Age doesn't matter a damn. The day my mother turned 40, she said she just wanted to go back to bed and cover her head with the covers until the day was over. Me? I was glad to make 40 (not cos I was sick or anything, it was just my way of looking at being 40).

Congratulations on the 20th anniversary of your 21st birthday. Isn't it great being twenty-one again!

I know I'm stopping for a beer on the way home tonight--here's one for you.

Sam - thanks! And yes, the Pogues gig was last week. Fantastic! Though it was the gig where Shane wrecked his knee...not so fantastic.

Mairead - You're right, it doesn't matter. I love birthdays and don't mind getting older - especially when you think of the alternative. I'm just amazed I've made it this long, having pretty much lived a "hold my beer and watch this" lifestyle.

MikeP - Make it a tall one. Cheers!

I've had a wandering Maroon over at my place thinking he was here. He wanted to say this to you:
Fortyone years old? Why, you little Lolita temptress.

All the best Rabbit Girl.

AHK. XXX

He also said he'd like to buy you a season ticket for the Sox, a Miffy the bunny cuddly toy and a side of Scottish salmon. He might not remember actually saying that, but with Doc, it's all in his virtual eyebrows, isn't it? I'd clear some room in the fridge if I were you!

Hope you're having a lovely birthday evening, hun!

Sassy - Thanks!

Sam - thanks for relaying Maroon's message. See what happens when he comments whilst in his cups? Doesn't even know where he is, poor old sod.

Old K - yesssss...death...let me know how that goes.

P1P - Sadly, didn't even go out! Making up for it tonight, though. We have coupons!

I think you should mark the passing of yet another year by drinking too much Guinness and then yacking into a 4 man scull on the Charles River from the Mass Ave Bridge. C'mon, you know if I were there, I'd do it with ya (although I would probably point, laugh and smoke while you were throwing up.)

Crappy--er, HAPPY--birthday.
